Hawaii County appealed the July 2018 ruling in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esandalaw.com\/news-and-information\/hawaii-county-to-appeal-ninth-circuit-ruling-on-open-carry-of-firearms\/\"><em>Young v. State of Hawaii, No. 12-17808, 2018 WL 3542985 (9th Cir. July 24, 2018)\u00a0<\/em><\/a>in which a 3-judge 9th Circuit panel struck down the Hawaii law prohibiting open carry of firearms on the grounds that it violated Second Amendment rights. The County requested an en banc rehearing, resulting in this month\u2019s ruling by a panel of 11 judges.
